My close friend had a VBAC with Dr. Morgan and I've used him as well (BH no VBAC needs....) I highly recommend him. |
I’m really sorry that was your relatives experience. I am a doula and I get to work with all of the drs. Dr surowitz is one of my favorites to work with, she is extremely competent and kind. I would wonder if there was more details to the story. There’s generally is, especially when it comes to labor.
To answer the OP, Dr surowitz is currently not working due to medical reasons, so they are very short staffed.

Dr Patel is very talented and patient. |
Dr segal is amazing and a tzaddik, truly. I love working with him (I am a doula, I work with all the drs all the time)
That said, he is VERY quick to c-section in my experience, possibly more than every other dr. Very medical minded

I second this. Dr Segal is fantastic but his practice is very fast to c section. I’m a patient there and have had to fight hard to avoid a c section. They are extremely cautious.
I want to switch to surwitz for this reason.
Are the other practitioners in her office good?

I really love dr surowitz. I heard she is [medical info removed] and is out for few months. But I do believe that she should have somebody that can take over her patients for the next few months. Did you ask the secretary if anybody is covering or who they recommend?

Realistically, how is she supposed to find somebody to take over her patients? Do "subs" exist in the doctor field?
I would imagine that any doctor has their own practice and their own patients and isn't looking for a temporary job for a few months

Yes, subs exist. They are called locum tenens, and they are traveling physicians who are well paid and like the challenge of moving around.
I delivered with Dr. Surowitz about a year ago. She was fantastic during delivery, but her practice was terrible and very disorganized throughout my pregnancy, with a constant turnover.

Im not a patient by Dr surowitz but I had dr pistili deliver my son when she was by Giovine. If she’s still by surowitz I would recommend her, she saved me and my baby (vaginal delivery)

I can’t recommend OGOA enough. They’ll do everything they can to avoid c sections. According to their website (but I never confirmed with them) that they have the lowest c section rate in nj. I’m so happy there. I had a wonderful birth with them and I loved the hospital they use.

No they aren’t known to deliver vbac. They are great doctors and midwives but they don’t specialize in that.
I had my two older kids with another practice. Then I switched to OGOA and had an ectopic pregnancy and the next two births with them and I was so happy there. I plan on going back.

The OGOA hospital doesn’t have a high level NICU. Doesn’t that bother you guys? What if something goes wrong.

I've had 3 c-sections and 1 vbac in the Lakewood area. I would recommend that u contact a medical referral agency to guide you to the best Dr. In my experience (I used a different Dr for each delivery) if you want a vbac u shld be using a "high risk" dr to ensure a safe vbac delivery. Hatzlocha!

For regular things that go wrong you don't need a high level. Generally speaking you know you will need a high level during your pregnancy. I needed a high level for one I had the nicu staff present at birth to take care of baby right away, and I plan on giving birth in community with my standard uncomplicated pregnancy.
