Tri state area refers to a circumference around Manhattan in all the surrounding three (or 4) states. Aka, NY metropolitan area. The places daily commuters to Manhattan come from to work.
So when a frum person says tri state, it means the communities that are constantly interacting on a daily basis.

Jealous of ppl that are peeved by this. Chalk it up to ignorance. Nobody means to be bad or self centered. Everybody knows people exist elsewhere. Nobody balks at clarifying questions when they are trying to find resources.

Ok so maybe not Albany or Rochester, but Waterbury is on the metro north RR so that would count. Want a house price in the tri state area? 250k for 5 bedrooms🤣

My outlook was that ppl want to stay anonymous.
Cuz yknw if the world isnt outside Monroe, Monsey Brooklyn and LKWD then if I ask for a local plumber and the plumbers wife replies with a reference, I might be recognized!
Im from the 'heimishe tri-state' and I never knew there are other Tri states out there.
