BH this baby is far from my first.
I have this problem every time.
Ds is now 8 months bH.
He wakes up every 40mins overnight. Sometimes he wants a bottle, sometimes I can rock him back to sleep.
In an ideal world id live in a palace, put him in his own room and do some sort of crying sleep training. Alas I live in a box, he shares a room with us (dh drives far to work and works long hrs, cant have him up all night), no room to squish him into a diff room even if he wouldnt bother the other kids with his screaming..
Please help a tired mommy! What can I do?!

I would think something is wrong medically. A sleep cycle is about an hour and a half so he's not making it threw a full sleep cycle. Does he have eczema? Reflux? Snoring or sleep apnea? Frequent ear infections?

Actually sleep cycles are around 40-45 minutes, so it seems like he's waking between sleep cycles and doesn't know how to self soothe to put himself to sleep.

OP, you might benefit from a sleep consultant but often when kids have this issue it's because they're overtired. How many naps does he have during the day and how long are they?

Could be overtiredness..he usually naps around an hr in the morning, and 1.5-2hrs at lunchtime.

Can dh sleep somewhere else for a few nights? Even a mattress in the living room with a sound machine so he doesn’t hear the baby could work if you have no other place.
Or we’ve moved the older kids into our room for a few nights while we sleep train. The kids think it’s fun to sleep on the floor and this way baby adjusts to the new room alone.

Maybe I could move the kids over..only other problem is the 2yo who also still doesnt sleep through!
Its a very small apartment, so whilst I actually dont mind leaving him to cry, its very disruptive for everyone else.
How would u go about training.

My sister put one of those room dividers so the baby doesn't see you in the middle of the night and then you would know it's not behavioral. you can sleep train and give your husband ear plugs for a few days? possibly the ferber method? I would also put noise machines in the other kids' rooms and possible close their doors.

this is assuming nothing medical is going on..

Also try adjusting naps and see if it helps.. maybe he is ready for one long nap instead of two? I know its early but my kids transitioned to one long nap earlier and it helps with bedtime.

This was a game changer for me. It's not so cheap but I rationalize that each course is like the cost of an put of pocket therapy session. There's a 0-4 months, 5 to 24 months, and a toddlers course

You don’t mind letting him cry? Please don’t be so flippant about that.
Try some gentle ideas.

Did you read it? That's not what this method is about. Its a very balanced method.
And its extremely tried-and-true
