I’m very happy with Mir. The English department is adequate, not any worse than others, and I’m very happy with the parent and student body.

Novominsk is a great option if you can get in. Extremely serious and high level learning, nice mix of litvish and heimish.

Novominsk- very high level of learning, great and thorough english department, mix of litvish, yeshivish, heimish, chasidish. HUGE class (about 45 boys) .
Tiferes elimelech- very litvish, high academics. More simple and yeshivish type families than Novominsk. Much smaller classes too.
I researched the above 2 for my son, but I also know about V'yelipol which is mostly chasidish-heimish with some yeshivish boys too. Im not sure how the level of learning compares to the above 2 (I dont think its as intense) but its a nice place with chashuv, serious learners. Very small class.

I'm the one who recommended Novominsk. The English department used to be greater and more thorough, but since they switched to what they call Lifeprep a couple years ago it's not the same. That said, it's still head and shoulders above Tiferes Elimelech, where I believe English optional in 10th grade and non-existent in 11th and 12th. Novominsk at least makes the boys take Regents and earn a Regents diploma, whereas TE definitely does not.

happy with Chaim Berlin BH. but again, like many yeshivas, could be better english... but also, my boys were in high school during COVID so things were lenient... maybe more serious now...

Happy with Chaim Berlin but since they switched to Lifeprep, the general studies dept went from poor to basically non-existent.
