And for that matter, Chanie, her children, her mechitunim might all be reading this thread. Can we be more careful? Does she have to have more hurt inflicted on her? Hasn't she had enough?? |
You sound very defensive of the protagonist. I wonder why. Yes some parts of the story are bizarre. I said it up thread and I'll say it again. Lots of enmeshment. She chose to share the story publicly. We have a right to discuss it.

Unless your reading comprehension is behind or your memory fading, remember how in the beginning of the serial, Chany shared Simi's disabilities. It is self understood Simy needed a lot of parental intervention in a crisis like this.
Do we mamesh need to spell it out for you, for real?
Those of us who know Chany are turning up our defensive antenna because the lack of empathy here is unbelievable.

Yes I have reading comprehension and memory issues. That's really kind of you. It's interesting how you defend a woman who chose to publicize every detail of her story to thousands of women while also using derogatory language to a real anonymous woman on the internet. Hypocrisy much?

Sorry, the lack of empathy to a woman who suffered so much got the better of me.
I sincerely apologize. Please reciprocate for Chany's sake.
Thanks.

I'm defensive, simply as a human being.
I happen to know who she is. That's all. I don't have any personal negia here.
It's just so not nice to take apart someone like this. An almuneh, no less..
What if she or her family is reading this??

Oh wow totally thought it was Simi’s husbands mother. That part was super unclear then.
I also noticed that Simi’s husband and MIL are not mentioned at all and was wondering about that. Like she mentions who she called right after about the diagnosis and it’s about friends and aunts and other relatives etc. but nothing about the husband or his family.

This story is incredible, I give so much credit to Chany for her strength in this unfortunate situation. Im genuinely curious why Simi's husband wasn't involved or wasn't mentioned throughout the entire ordeal?

I understand some of you know her in real life so you’re getting defensive but from what we can read about her in her story and from what you people are saying she seems like a real sweetheart and I don’t think she’d want all of you to bash others for stating opinions and trying to figure out certain details when she decided to be public with her story.
Careful as your defensiveness is bordering on meanness.
ETA I edited to take out a specific quote as there are a few people on here who this applies to not just one.

I think that was intentionally unclear. Most of us understood it's simis mother in law.
I guess they didn't agree to have any part of their experience published. It would be smart to put a little disclaimer or something because it's very strange how they're obviously missing from the story. Not everyone has imamother to discuss it.

I don't know the protagonist.
I think that just because she decided to share part of her story doesn't mean that she needs to share ALL of her story. This is her life and her story and she gets to share as much as she would like. Not knowing the full picture (like her sholam bayis, financial situation, other kids...) we can't sit and judge. I don't think she owes us an explanation to fill in the missing pieces.

This. It boggles my mind how ppl here think they have a right to know all the details that weren't mentioned, so they have their whole story straight. Someone's real life, devastating story. Only because the author decided to publish it. Does that not give her the right to keep certain things unspoken and hidden?

No reason to wonder why. The protagonist has every right to skip things she doesn't want mentioned and taken apart. You might have a "right" to discuss it as no one can stop you, but it would be in a very, very bad taste. Her right to keep things she wanted hidden as such trumps anyone's curiosity.

Why are some posters up in arms? No-one is bashing the protagonist in any way, we are discussing a story that is being published and some readers are having difficulty with the details. Does this mean we're bashing her?

Based on what?
Once something is published in the news, hilchos lashon hara changes. Public information or acts and statements made in public have a different status.
I'm NOT saying that it's open season to start making intrusive, nasty, or mean personal comments.
But that's not what happened here.
A few posters wondered if they had perhaps missed something with her husband...a divorce, an explanation, something...that would make sense why he's not mentioned.
She wrote this story to inspire and entertain (presumably) and from this thread it's obvious that we're all invested and admire her strength tremendously.
The curiosity stems from investment and is not malicious.
No comments here sounded malicious to me.
If someone is putting there story out there like this, non- anonymously presumably there's some thick skin.
The people rushing to "defend" should maybe take a chill.
