Hi I’m just wondering if other people are having this issue or if anyone has ideas… so my husband was in BMG for almost 10 years and is mid 30s. A position in chinuch is not for him (not that there are any openings but it’s not what he wants to do). He just cannot find a job. He has basic computer skills, he’s a smart guy, organized, he has positive energy, and I believe he would be a quick learner. He went to many interviews and nothing happened… what are we supposed to do? Some employers got back to him that they want someone with experience and someone else said he wasn’t polished enough (we heard this from a relative who works there). He is very put together. He spoke to recruiters and to pcs and nothing came out of any ideas that they suggested. He took a basic computer course too. Anyone else going thru this? What is a yeshiva guy supposed to do when it is time to go out to work at such a late age? Is the market just really bad right now?

Hugs op, its hard . Like you said the market isn't what it used to be in regard to hiring and pay. Sorry no advice.
Also I see a lot of post posting how much lakewood jobs pay, don't want to pop the bubble but I don't know where they are plucking the numbers from.

another way to find a job is to network. if ur husband has friends/neighbors/acquaintances/ relatives who are business owners call them or he should go down to their offices when they have a second to meet with him and let them know he is looking for a job and ask them to network among other friends who are business owners or ppl they know from doing business. I know some people who have gotten jobs that way when the reg routes weren’t yielding anything. not everyone advertises when they are looking for ppl. a lot of ppl just rely on word of mouth.

No advice but had to comment on the person who helps people find jobs as a chessed.
That is seriously one of the nicest chessed organizations (one man led) out there!!! Wow!!

Right he’s tried this already thanks but we need to keep thinking of diff friends/ acquaintances

Try the Rav of the Shul/ neighborhood. Many rabbanim will reach out to Kehilla members to try to get someone placed in a position by them.

Is anyone in a similar position? Is it impossible for someone straight out of yeshiva to find a job or is it just him??

I know you said he is not looking for a chinuch job. Does ABA fall under chinuch? Because I'm sure there's a need for male aba therapists. He can even do subbing ABA until he finds a job and maybe he'll like it? pay is pretty decent depending on the agency.
