My BAs mitzvah daughter got it but I’m still struggling.
I’m stuck on figuring out a logical system v. guessing

I can tell you my strategy, though I'm sure there are others.
I started like you did, by making a list of all possible 4 digit combinations that add up to 26. Then I made a chart of 6 rows by 4 columns. I plugged in the numbers using a similar logic to a sudoku puzzle, except that each number had to be used twice in the chart. Only one number can be shared between any two rows.
Once I had that laid out, it was very easy to plug it into the diagram.
