My ds was invited to a classmate ' s birthday party. They were supposed to go play soccer and then go to a cafe and from theer the parents were supposed to pick the kids. So the cafe is not up to our Kashruth standards. I wrote the mother that my son is so happy and looking forward to it but we'll have to pick him after the soccer part. I did not provide any explanations. I wanted to make sth up about an appointment but in the end decided not to. Today the mother sent me( me only, not the parents of the other guests) that they changed their plans and are going to a different cafe- which is one with a better Kashruth.I suspect my ds spilled the beans to the birthday boy:(.
I feel really bad about it, I didn't expect them to accommodate our every need - I think no other family has an issue with eating at the first cafe. Should I just say thank you? Should I tell her they shouldn't change their plans because of us,( because I am sure it involves harder work, longer way and more money)? Or aby other ideas?
Thank you.

Just say thank you. Don’t make a big deal. They want him to join and they are making it work. Just leave it.

After the party thank her and tell her what an amazing time your son had.

I love this! You demanded nothing, and that mother wanted to be nice. Beautiful.
If the kashrus is objectively better, it could even be your zchus that all the kids are eating at the new place
Of course say thank you.

Don’t be so sure that no one else had a problem with that first place’s hechsher. It could be the bday boy’s parents realized on their own that the first choice wasn’t acceptable to everyone.

I love stories like this, because it shows how important it is to stick to what you believe in...
I was mad because my kid was invited to a Friday night class birthday party - at a Jewish school - but I didn't comment, just declined.
The party got changed to another day. When I spoke with the Mom, I mentioned my initial surprise. And this is what she told me: it was a joint party and her co-Mom INSISTED on Friday night. My friend knew it wouldn't fly with most of the parents, so she let it go, waited for the complaints, and was then able to change the date.
Imagine if all those parents hadn't stuck to their guns
