The kids clothes usually goes straight in the wash except for my daughter's uniform skirts. She usually changes right after school. We spot clean the skirts with baby wipes and wash once or twice a week.

DH and I wear our clothes for up to a few days, as long as they're clean. But we have no baby at home to dirty our clothes, when we did everything was washed every day.

Kids change everything every day. Adults rewear pants/skirts up to 3 days.

Much depends on one's upbringing and resources. In my childhood, we had to use a Laundromat a few blocks away, so daily laundry was not happening,and we were fairly poor, so we didn't have a lot of clothes. White shirts were worn once, colored ones twice. Skirts, pants, dresses reworn numerous times unless they looked dirty sooner. Fitted sheets didn't exist, only flat, and we didn't have many. Each Friday that week's top sheet became our bottom sheet and we got a new top sheet.

In later years, when we had a machine and our resources were less skimpy, we wore all shirts once, skirts, pants and dresses several times. Little kids tend to get dirty fast, so their clothes can pretty much be worn only once, regardless

Now as an empty nester who still has a limited wardrobe and is fairly clean, I may wear a blouse twice, especially if I didn't wear it very long. I slouch around the house in ratty old T shirts to preserve my good clothes, and if I wore a blouse for just a few hours on a cool day and didn't shvitz in it, I'll certainly wear it again if I don't have enough dirty laundry to make a load. I have a machine but am still not going to run a wash for two blouses and three pairs of panties.

Skirts I wear many times. No set number. Sometimes I'll wash them because I want to do a load of a certain type and haven't enough to justify it. Then I'll throw in some skirts of that type just to make up the load.

Dresses I don't really have, but if I did, they would be treated like skirts unless they had been sweated in.

Too frequent washing wears clothes out faster. It's a delicate balance between cleanliness and preservation.

It depends on whose laundry. My underwear and socks are changed daily. When it's very hot, everything from head to toe is changed daily. Otherwise, everything is worn multiple times before washing except underwear and socks. It took years, but dh finally understands that underwear and socks must be changed daily. He wears pants twice before washing. I'm not sure about shirts. When my oldest started high school, I told him to check if pants and shirts are clean before dumping in hamper. I think he wears pants and shirts twice before washing. BH, he changes underwear and socks every day. (He did go through a stage when he was younger where it was a fight to get him to shower and/or change underwear.) My youngest still wets the bed and has accidents. Every morning, I toss his pajamas into the machine without checking. His sheet and the rubber pad on his bed get washed often. Everything he wears gets washed and on days when he has accidents, he goes through multiple sets of clothes a day.

We change had to do pajamas and weekday clothes. What makes me crazy is when my team makes a midday switch. But it’s a lot of laundry, but I want my kids to be clean once in a while. We will reuse a uniform skirt, but no one wears uniform skirts anymore here so not an issue. It’s

Skirts or pants can sometimes be reworn if a kid is around 14. Before then, forget it. Told, never.

When you have a bunch of kids, laundry needs to be done daily.

Sometimes my son reuses clothing if there are no visible stains and no smell and I don't have a chance to do laundry. In general we wash anything that smells or is dirty. I do the laundry.

My boys (8 and 5) wear pants for two days, but they do check them to make sure they're clean. They also rewear pajamas. My girls (12 and 10) rewear their uniforms, too. Shirts two days (unless they're dirty) and skirts 3-4 days. Older boys wear their dry cleaners white shirts for 2 days...

We change every day. As an adult, sometimes certain material skirts will not be changed if I didn't get them dirty and I'll wear them a few times.

But I do make sure that the hampers are not overflowing and keep up with the laundry.

Daily, including the uniform skirts. And yes, they still have pleats. I find that around the age that I can think about the kids rewearing, they start to develop a certain odor that for some is very difficult to get rid of- they use deoderant, special shampoo, etc, but by later in the day, it's back to at least some extent. So anything that touches the skin (collar, often waistband of skirt, skirt itself if no tights or leggings) or the hair (sweater) needs washing. And sometimes even clothes that don't. It's much better to just tell everyone to wash daily than to point out to certain kids that they need tim

Boys 9 and 10: everything every day.
DD 12: Shirts, tops and skirts and underwear every 2-3 days. I wish she *would* change tops and underwear every day.
DH: Underwear and shirts every day. Pants and tzitzis can go on for a few days.
Me: Underwear and shirts/tops every day. Skirts when they get smelly to me or show stains. I've got a good nose, so I think I'm alright with the skirts.

Pyjamas: every few days.

My boys wear pants for try days unless visibly dirty. Shirts change daily. My skirts I rewear multiple times. Tops also wash daily.

so, do your kids put all their clothes in the hamper every day or do they rewear...

Starting age 7 or 8 they can rewear bottoms if clean. I usually don’t have them rewear tops. Underwear obviously not. PJs can be worn for several nights if clean.
What’s the practical point of this discussion though? I find the whole premise weird

We re-wear anything that's clean. Socks and underwear are one use only. Everything else is per situation

Yes men can complain but they produce more laundry!!! One men underwear is like one or two baby outfits.
When my dh goes away I can see immediately.

Anyways there is no point in washing everything after one day period, especially grown up clothes that look clean and don’t smell. Washing ruins clothes. Why do unnecessary work and deliberately reduce the life span of the garment

ok, I'm glad to see I'm not being compulsive about it, as most of you say the same thing as me.

If his comment is after your complaint, then its just him trying to be helpful.
I love a super clean home, sometimes dh encourages me to lower a standards a bit temporarily, if I dont feel well. "Its OK not to.... every day".
