Hi!! I am a BT so I didn't grow up with the "Classic" jewish music that includes all the zemiros and yuntif songs everyone seems to know. I'm wondering what are some good cds I can get for my toddler kids that teach frum lessons and are not the new dj style frum songs. more like marvelous middos machine type. What are some people recommend (that I can learn from too?)... I have imposter syndrome almost and I feel like im missing the basics of being a frum mommy TMI please help me!! im embarrassed I don't know any of the songs my kids learn in playgroup or school

I definitely felt this way, as a convert mom. Something that helped me a little was https://a.co/d/9Jcgyer. This singing siddur, also has some things beyond just davening. Also, once my kids started school, they taught me and its super exciting for them to teach me.

If you can get your hands on the mitzvah tree series, a lot of songs your kids will learn are on those tapes.

There is an app called zing. It has tons of songs for all ages and stages. Its costs 7 dollars a month but its so worth it.

All available on Spotify.

Also, don't be embarrassed to casually ask his Morah what CDs she plays for them. And then play those at home so you learn them too.

To explain, Morah/Mendy music and Uncle Moishy are the type of songs they probably listen to in the classroom.

Nobody I know has a copy of Mitzvah Tree. But my kid's teacher, their teachers, teachers, teacher back several decades had it cuz that was what was around. And those are the songs she taught and then they taught and now they're teaching still. In general, a lot of the songs twice, especially at the younger level are just passed from one teacher to the next and often the same songs they learned.

Your kid won't learn this in school, but there's a great album called Uncle Moishy lullabies which can give you some nice tunes for when you say Shema with your child at night. I don't know when it came out but it's on Spotify (And probably the other streaming services.) It's one of those little things that's nice to give your child. You don't have to, but you're not going to learn it anywhere else.

I don't know if this should be a spinoff post but my husband is also BT and he has the same kind of embarrassment when it comes to zemiros. we don't come off as BT so it's awkward then when we're by a shabbos meal and people assume he knows and he doesn't know any zemiros (not that I feel embarrassed. He often brings up that this is an insecurity of how own). is there a place to learn yeshivish type zemiros people sing by shabbos meals?

This is a great one for learning the basics. Not the zemiros but benching, eishes chayil etc.

Let me see if I can find one for the most popular zemiros. (Very few people actually know all of them but at least this way he can know the most popular.)

This has a great selection of the most popular daytime ones, some of the others are not as famous. https://open.spotify.com/album.....sNz4A
