We bH have 6 kids - 4 older boys ranging from 15-8, a 4 yo girl, and our baby.
Friday nights in the summer obviously we’re all very tired and just go to bed after the meal (well my husband and I do, my kids just would stay up and play or read til they pass out on various surfaces).
Now that Shabbos starts so early, we do the meal, I put the baby to bed, and then it’s only 8pm.
We’ve been trying to brainstorm ideas for things to do with the kids on Friday nights that they’ll have fond memories of. I already do a funny parsha quiz at the table, and my husband was thinking of buying nuts and sunflower seeds for an oneg Shabbos for them afterwards.
But would love to crowdsource ideas - how do you spend your long Friday nights (if you don’t immediately go to sleep?)

Do you make up the funny parsha quiz, or do you get it from somewhere? Can you please share?

My husband sleeps 12 plus hours on the long friday nights.
He loves it.
My kids read and play until my lights close, they're on a timer) set to 11 pm.
My youngest, I put to sleep,I then come down to clean up, also read..

My oldest is only 7 so they go to sleep but DH and I usually play rummikub or something whilst snacking on nuts and jellies and sometimes a tea.
We hear one neighbour go in a stroll after their meal.

My kids are all ages
Teen Boys go out to learn or visit grandparents
Teen girls invite friends over to say tehillim, make an oneg, or play board games or visit grandparents.
Younger kids play board games and eat popcorn and shmooze.
If I know kids go out I’ll try to have something hot - like cholent to sit around and eat when they come back.
The early Friday nights are great bonding times.

This reminds me we all use to go visit my grandparents Friday night and meet the cousins there. We lived about 5-7 minutes walk from them. Such fond memories.

Read on the couch watching the kids fighting...or acting wild. Then need the energy to get up to go to bed

We're aggressive gamers. All sorts of board games. We also play with the puppies, sit around and chat about life, things. Some games we play leave us debating all night. Bed by 9.

Get in bed super early. Then the kids rotate one on one "appointments" with me so everyone gets their own mommy time, from my 6 year old to my 19 yo. Then I read a book and pass out for a nice 12 hour night.
