I’m a really difficult color to find. I spend a lot on my wigs.
Even with the nicest sheitel machers out there I have tried them all. They understand to what style and color I want, but I never get the results delivered.
Once something is not quite right with the wig they would blame the colorist, don’t see it as a problem or fix it and then it looks even worse.

These wigs I’m talking about are not always virgin but most often yes. Even on the virgin wigs once it’s cut and colored it’s not always going to give the same results as I previously wanted.

So I know some people have amazing experiences at the “ best local sheitel machers “ / colorists and know that I have tried so many of them and they were not always the nicest to deal with when there was a problem. The blame always went to me that this is what I asked for. They turn so dishonest. So pathetic ….. it’s not a cheap recyclable item and I could cry 😢.

I’m the opposite. Customer service is so crucial to me that would never let my customers walk away with something they dislike/ my mistake.

I’m sorry, I’ve noticed this attitude with sheitel machers a lot when it comes to other things too. “This is the wig you chose” etc.

My niece's hair is on the red spectrum. I never thought of her as a redhead, really, but as blonde with a tinge....but when she got engaged, she found that whenever she tried on a blonde wig, it made her look off color.

What was upsetting were the sheitel machers who didn't have her color, but tried to persuade her that she was "being too picky" and that what they were trying to sell her would be fine, this is how sheitels are, you just need to get used to it, etc....it was a process till she went to someone who specializes in red and was able to offer her a wig in her color.

I don’t wear sheitels but this happened to my friend. She spent thousands before her wedding and the macher promised it would look perfect after her wedding. She got them and sobbed for weeks

I’m a SM. My advice going fwd is not to color a wig. Only buy a wig that ur happy with the color as is.
I know some extremely talented colorists and if they can’t achieve the color you want then it may not be able to be done in the wig you chose.
There’s absolutely zero way of knowing that beforehand..

I have no choice but to color my wig.

It’s impossible for a sheitel macher to guarantee results. There’s no way to know how a wig will take. Virgin hair is more predictable but still far from 100% ..

If this is the case, the sheitel macher isn’t really at fault

Don’t ever buy a super high end wig. You’ll end up 100x more disappointed. I’ve watched it happen where people convinced themselves that where they are going wrong is going too cheap and they need a high end wig.
It’s never the answer. Some people are just picky and that’s not going to disappear when you buy high end

This. It's so upsetting to trust a sheitelmacher and then realize they were just giving you their sales pitch shpiel.

I never do that anymore.
I'm blonde and I only buy a Sheitel that looks perfect as is.

It could take me a year to buy a new Sheitel. But rather that than agmas nefesh.

I also rather buy when I find one, and not especially for a simcha. Because when I have a deadline I end up making decisions I regret.

My policy is only buy precuts. I need to know what it is going to look like before I buy it.

My main issue is the color. ( I’m not a difficult color but it’s needs to be perfect for my particular shade)If I discuss going for a caramel brown color , Don’t return my wig let’s say jet black and claim “ this is the perfect color”. This is not what I asked for. They claim it’s stunning even though they can see it’s entirely disgusting on me. I have no choice because I already paid in full. And usually it’s very hard to get the perfect color in my shade once it’s been colored too dark. Even if they go over it then the original color can’t always go back to what I wanted. (Virgin and processed hair)

This is just an example. I’ve been to many “ honest and sweet sm” and some colorist and not once has anyone taken responsibility.

Either the colorist or sm should pay a full refund. Why is this a gamble and every other product that I ever buy from retail stores that is faulty I can return. ( or dispute I have never done that but when it comes to more expensive brand new wigs that I can’t wear again …why is this different.) I’m sure if the sm or colorist paid $2,000 $6,000 &8,000or $ 10,000 and their wig was unwearable how would they handle it ?
