For the shocked chasidim on this thread. I’m pretty sure white linen is based on the notion that prev generations were all sleeping naked.

It is.
The layer that's directly on the body, has to be white. Which is exactly where the white linen chumra comes from, because sleeping naked was the norm & done thing.
