My DS3 had cellulitis and had to have antibiotics in the hospital in late August. In late September he got strep on the skin that started a terrible and vast infection all over his arms and legs. Antibiotics again. Now it’s November and he just woke up screaming in pain from his ears. Will go to Dr tomorrow but I bet it’s an ear infection. He’s also been coughing like crazy and is stuffed up for at least a week. Thinking the Dr will prob give antibiotics AGAIN for the third time in three months. His digestion was a mess after the second round and he had diarrhea for weeks. I gave probiotics and it’s finally stabilizing. So annoyed! Is there something else to do?

I take antibiotics all the time prophylactically at a low dose ( supposedly to prevent constant getting sick and higher dosages). It hurts my stomach less than it did when each time was taking something different.

For ear infections you can really just treat the pain and wait for it to self-resolve

Garlic mullein ear drops

Oregano oil outside the ear

Chiropractic adjustment

Craniosacral session

Homeopathy

Hydrogen peroxide in the ear

I'm going to disagree. If he's so sensitive to strep it is essential that you give antibiotics to avoid rheumatic fever. From bitter experience the kids who are sensitive to strep are the ones who get the complications.

My son ended up in hospital, on bed rest, for 4 months with rheumatic fever because we went alternative.

What I would do is ask the doctor why this keeps happening. He may have a low grade infection in his blood that he's never quite gotten rid of. His immune system may be low for any number of reasons.

It's not standard for a 3 yr old to get cellulitis unless he has another skin problem. Maybe he has allergies that are affecting his skin? You need to look deeper for the cause of all the strep but don't avoid the antibiotics.

Another reason to give antibiotics is to avoid Pandas. In addition to antibiotics perhaps try Maxi Health Maxibiotics to avoid recurrence.
A kinesiologist can identify which herbs can help him specifically.

I agree
Which is why I asked if there were other major infections

Has his blood been taken and analyzed?

Does he have an immune system issue?

Neutropenia?

Why are you assuming an ear infection and congestion is strep? I would assume it's viral.

Also, antibiotics can make kids "sensitive" to strep. Iow, colonized with or vilnerable to resistant strains.

Does your doctor really prescribe you antibiotics as a prophylactic treatment? Speechless

Yes, after many rounds of being hospitalized with severe infections. Many people with immunodeficiency take antibiotics every day.
