My dear IMA's
What are your investment pieces where you splurge(d) and it has paid off (whatever that means for you)?
My last invest piece was in 2006, I bought a coat and its lasted me till now, I am looking to get a new one. I was wondering what everyone else is Investing on and think is a goo investment.
I just bought Stuart Weitzman boots but I feel a bit guilty, and am considering returning...
Would you buy pieces that are second hand? more specifically shoes? a friend told me that shoes are not good to buy used... anyone know the source for this?

Why can’t there be more than one option?
Coat, shoes, bags can be investment pieces
Dress less so for me
Investment in a sense that it serves well for years, not in a Sense that it had a repurchase value

I bought a 5k LV tote bag. It's the largest size allowed for international flights. I saw it in duty free in Europe and fell in love.
I've had it for about 6 months and the leather still smells new. I brought in on our chol hamoed trip and for the first time ever I didn't need a suitcase. I'm flying internationally in a couple of months iyh and will bring this bag and a backpack, again no suitcase needed. I guess the no luggage tickets help defray the cost of the bag.
Even though I don't use it a lot, I look at it every day and take joy in the smell of the leather. Now I just need to find a good everyday bag.

Well shoes can't be put in the washing machine.
You don't have an option for a wig. I love my nice, good quality wig (which I bought 2nd hand off someone who had barely worn it - she had cut it a drop too short for her liking, but the length was fine for me).

Correct! Repurchase value is not a factor. Usage in a lifetime is more of what I think of but however you define it.

I bought a pair of boots 2 years ago. I don't wear them often but they make me feel so beautiful when I do.
Looking for a timeless Shabbos coat also

Ok so all but a dress would work. Out bodies and fashion change too often for it to be an investment.
Get that coat.
Everything went up in price so badly I want to cry. Look for deals there is always black friday x-mas and whatever made up reason for shopping there is.
I get deals sent to me all the time

I paid 285 for a pair of Stuart Weitzman booties in sale, they still look new! And they're 3 years old.

I bought a mackage coat, Stuart Weitzman boots, Michele watch years ago and still wear all of them and don’t regret it.
I don’t think I would buy a Rolex or moncler coat but I find that the in between designer things makes sense for me. I wear them, enjoy them and they last.

U guys might laugh at me -not sure this is what u have in mind...
I bought a long downs coat from lands end for prob $100/$150. For me that's a lot. Lasted B"H a few yrs. Gained a lot of weight last pregnancy and need a new one now...
Also $100 on bogs boots to have a pair for winter year after year. Not crazy about style but they work and last.
Usually for a jacket / shoes / purse I'd spend $20 -$60. Anything more would be s/t I hope to invest in for yrs. But I'm guessing u mean things on a completely different level...

I would choose 2 options. I invested in a gorgeous leather coat/ longer spring jacket
And classy handbag. Love love them.

personally, I like to change things up...I don't like wearing the same coat or boots three years in a row...
a purse or bag from 7 years ago will look dated and used regardless of the brand...I know someone who spent a few thousand on a bag around 8 yrs ago...she wore it for a little bit but then it went out of style...
are you looking for a piece that will last many years and thereby justify the expense? or are you looking to spend more to enjoy the luxury item now (also fine!)
for example, I got a kurt geiger bag this year and last year for winter.....I enjoyed both bags and at the end of the season, I'm ok being done with the bag...
also, side point, there are so many knockoffs these days, when you see every teenager and newlywed plastered in designer labels...personally, I don't like the look, and won't wear something with a label...
just wanted to add I have invested in jewelry and I absolutely don't regret it...I love every piece and wear them all the time......I would much rather invest in an eternity band than a bag that I won't want to wear in three yrs as styles changed, I am bored of it etc...
