I haven’t been on vacation with dh in years and we could really use a getaway. I’m thinking of Cancún cuz it’s not too far from NY, and I heard there’s kosher food. Can you help me find a hotel with kosher food, a nice room with a jacuzzi or a private pool? I wanna go for 2 nights so I’ll let myself spend on this.

In Banyan Tree Mayakoba Every room has a private pool and some a hot tub too. Have kosher restaurant and kosher breakfast situation there.

Banyan Tree looks amazing! Do they have kosher food for everyone there or you need to order? And is it 3 meals a day or just breakfast?

There is a kosher restaurant in the hotel, the hotel is not kosher. It’s not the best or cheapest food but it’s very convenient.

There is officially a “kosher” section for breakfast, but there is no mashgiach and you need to be careful. There’s coffee (with cholov stam milk) fuit and vegetables, cholov stam waffles. You can bring your own frying pan and they will happily use it for your eggs.

Thanks!
Does the kosher restaurant in the hotel serve dairy or meat? Is it a breakfast place or dinner?

I stayed at Hyatt Ziva in the Hotel Zone. We stayed in the adult tower. We didn’t have a private pool but a private jacuzzi on the deck. The tower has a separate and because it’s adult only it’s quieter and less people. You might even have it to yourself. We went to 2 different restaurants that we were able to walk to. You can also order food from chabad. Breakfast we ordered food to the hotel. We also had fresh fruit and fresh squeezed juice from the resort.

If you are willing to spend and want private pol and something beautiful Banyan Tree is the place for you.

The Nizuc is also really special and also has private pools. Not sure about kosher food, but chabad I think delivers.

Hyatt ziva is a beautiful hotel resort style . With a few big pools and nice rooms. If you go without kids you can be in the adults tower which has a seperate pool for adults only but not private. It's close to kosher food

Imo the kosher food at nizuc was way better than banyan trees. U can order in the regular restaurant and they can also do poolside which they don’t in the banyan tree.
There’s also tons kosher food all around that delivers - if you do go to banyan tree ask around as there is a WhatsApp chat people join there and everyone posts minyanim etc
Also there is a grand Hyatt that is kosher too in playa

Just want to point out that depending on your husbands level of observance he may not find Cancun appropriate. The food is kosher but the atmosphere is not, even though there is kosher gos and minyan. Bathing suit type attire is rampant all over even not on the beach. It is almost impossible to avoid and may not be appropriate for a man who keeps any level of shmiras einayim. It’s far more problematic than Miami South Beach etc.

Funny, cuz we were saying the whole time how much more “kosher” it was in cancun than Miami. The worst we saw was a Victoria secret ad in the airport LOL

We stayed in the banyan tree, went to the beach early was so quiet. Afternoons in our private pool, and then late afternoon biked around the resort and then went back to the beach again. Went out to eat at night in playa.

How did you bike around? Do they offer bike rental at banyan tree or is there a rental nearby?

Which area is best to stay in?
For more of a tighter budget , which hotel is best and is an airbnb recommended/safe?
Is there a need for a car?
What fun activities is there to do?
What kind of clothing do I need to take along?

Sounds amazing! Do you know which villa you stayed in? I’m looking at the serenity pool villa or the beachfront terrace pool suite.
And did you eat breakfast in banyan tree?
