Can you walk me through the upsherin process? We are planning on having a small party and also taking my son to a rebbe in the local school. What is the schedule- when do we cut hair (we aren’t cutting at party), when do we go to rebbe and when do we have party? We are litvish.

Contact the school & ask them what time you can go to the Rebbi. Then work your schedule accordingly.
For my son's recent upsherin, we had a breakfast at 9:30 AM, whoever came snipped some hair & he got his haircut. Then we went to the Rebbi at about 11:30.
Hair is commonly cut before going to the Rebbi. So if you don't want to cut it at the party, you'd need to figure it out how to work it around then. Maybe you can take him to the barber early morning for his haircut, then to the rebbi, then have the party later in the day.
