Looking for ideas of day trips from the miami area, with a 6 year old and 4 year old. We love nature. We thought to do one day at Everglades and one day and Key Largo. Open to any and all tried suggestions! Thanks.

Everglades would be lost on my kids. There’s not much going on in key largo. This is really personality and preference based. My kids like doing rather than just looking. I’d much sooner do a fabulous playground or childrens museum

I love the Everglades. There’s a really cute visitors center/mini museum, trails, picnic areas, and airboats. We look for fish and birds, and just enjoy the great outdoors. You can also go to Miccosukee Indian village nearby and watch alligator wrestling. Just go when the weather is fantastic because it gets really hot and buggy otherwise.
Other fun outdoorsy things to do are berry picking (I believe strawberry season starts in December), kayaking at Oleta (not sure if 4 is too young- I think there’s biking there too), kite flying at Haulover Park, and tandem biking at Bill Baggs. Zoo Miami is great too, lots of different sections there to check out. They sometimes have an outdoor market, you can look up when.
I love the keys, but haven’t found much to do. There’s Shell World, which is a big store with shells and some toys. But you might need another one-two things to do in the area, because it’s a short outing. Do tell if you find fun things to do in Key Largo.
In Boca, sugar sand park is a lot of fun.
Please let us know what other hidden gems you find to do in south Florida!
