We left lkwd cuz my husband was accepted to a school out of state, we have another year and a half and then there’s a good chance we’re gonna come back. We both grew up there and have a large extended family with pull in lots of different schools.. my oldest was in a school which we’ll likely try to send back to ..
just looking for options now ..
my second to oldest is a girl who’s going to be in low-mid elementary. She’s so so sweet and really thriving in our OOT school cuz she has a TON of support. I wish lkwd had such a school, would be an absolute dream come true… she’s an extremely weak student. We’re trying to get to the bottom of it but mostly she’s just a shy, sweet, happy, sunny disposition, spacey kid who will 100% be fine as an adult but I’m desperate for her to make it thru 8 years of school without lasting effects (feeling dumb, inferior, low self esteem etc etc)
So lkwd moms - if you had ur choice and could send anywhere- where would u send a weak student?
I think we fit into nachlas, Meoros.. also maybe BEM or Neemas but from what I understand the first 2 are slightly more right leaning? I don’t think any of the ones I listed are good for a weak student…

ETA, I went here and have a relative in an administrative position. Would never have considered the school before this kid, I like smaller, warmer, feeling like a person not a number but if it’s right for my kid I’m open

Bais Faiga has dealt with every single type of kid. They have the most resources from all schools

Not a bad idea … I’ll have to mull this one over… idk why this school never really “took off” maybe someone can explain it to me.. I know a handful of graduates who look a left turn from how they were raised so it makes me nervous but the academics will def work for my kid

I’m curious to hear first hand from someone.
My closest friends son is in orchos Chaim and getting zero help after she pushed and pulled and got accepted on like Aug 30th bec everyone told her that’s the place to send if u need help … I’m becoming a skeptic
ETA I think very highly of OC but not necessarily for every weak kid etc

My daughter is in Nachlas and is bh very bright but I think they care much more about the girls’ happiness and being a good Frum girl than excelling in academics and they do have supports

I was there for a short time before I moved and my kid was already struggling. They weren’t unhelpful but were just pushing a lot of services on me.
In the school I’m in now I feel so supported, I feel my kid is so valued, the communication is AMAZING. the hand holding, the guidance.. am I in dreamland.. does this exist anywhere? For the record my OOT school is a big school(but well funded which of course helps)

My daughter Is in baia faiga now. She is getting a lot of one on one for the areas she needs extra attention. Very impressed with them

Lakewood schools don't have the same resources as a lot of other places. Tuition is lower and levels aren't tracked as much.
Being said that, most schools have resource rooms for chumash, math etc. Many have on site therapies including speech, and OT. Some therapies or extra help is an added cost, some is government funded, and some the school pays.
You have to be prepared to advocate for your child, and possibly have to take your child out of school for outside help.

From my experience I wouldn't recommend bnos bracha. If ur child is happy and supported in ur oot school, turn over heaven and earth to stay. Kids with learning differences (and their parents) don't have it easy in lakewood.
