so what are some of the tips you've used or use that help with little kids and YK?

One thing I am a big believer in is Mommy dates - getting together with other moms who have kids of similar ages so we can sahre teh responsibility of child watching and they have playmates!

something else I began last year was, before YK I sit down and cut up and package a TON of foods - things like cubed chicken, raising, grapes (devined adn cut), apple (corred and sliced), cucumbers, pita (quareterd)etc... you get the picture, then I clear off 1 shelf in the fridge and have everything arranged in little baggies or containers - I let my kids 'help themsleves' within reason - the reason being I have to ok anything they eat. But this way there is no cutting or prepping on my part and they kids feel so big doing it themselves! I keep the urn on and they get tea which they both really enjoy or fake cider. They help choose the foods and prepare it so they are much more inclined to eat it!

Also, being almost 7mo. pregnant and not a good faster without being pg - I can stay parked o the couch and know that they are eating well (not nosh).

Any other ideas????

If you want an easy, yummy feed yourself food for kids this is what we did on RH and it was a hit.

Take a pack of wings and split each one in half so you have a bunch of mini polkes. Coat in egg and breadcrumbs like a schnitzel. Place in oiled pan and bake and there you have Drumettes Smile

The kids love it since the are bite sized and can feed themseves. Best of all it can be eaten cold.

I like the yogurt idea, I was thinknig to prepare cucumbers and apples peeled and sliced too. pretzels in baggies, raisins, sliced cheese, my kids arnt great sandwich eaters so maybe I'll prepare some tuna w/ crackers for lunch, xtra bananas in the house
cereal for breakfast, fruit for snack, tuna and crackers and cheese and something else for lunch with banana, yogurt and something else for dinner...

I pretty much make what my girls like to eat ahead of time and have it prepared and ready to go. Veggies and dip, cheese sandwiches, lunch meat, fruit, crackers, tuna salad, yogurt, borekas, etc.

I did cold chicken wings, although it was annoying to have to take the meat off the bone during Y"K and have chicken grease on my hands in a duel disgusting yet tempting way! Next year, IY"H, I"ll debone before Y"T.
