It's definitely a serious place, very academic, the girls are super inspired and religious. It just has a MO/religious zionist/rav kook hashkafa, not middle of the road

Big DB fan!! Very middle of the road.
Officially it's becoming BY this coming year but nothing actually changing. Their hashkafas were always BY, now they just want to wean out girls that are making a bad rep for the sem!
Still holding onto the lessons I learnt there 5 years ago and still in touch with teachers.

Can we define middle of the road?
Because my middle of the road is not your middle of the road. And you’ll have that for almost everyone.

I’m mildly involved in shidduchim, and I constantly get resumes of girls that state ‘middle of the road’ as part of the description, for such a wide range of people. From yeshivish to OOT BY type, to MO machmir, to MO etc

This. You know how it goes - I'm middle of the road, and everyone else is either to the left or the right of ME....

I was taking it to mean jpf — not mo and not chareidi

My daughter is also considering Darchei Binah. I am jusy wondering how they will be able to change to a BY seminary in just one year. They have a reputation, not sure how quickly they can change that.

What's their reputation? My DD attended last year and felt it too chareidi minded for her. She had a smart phone but with a filter.

I am told this upcoming year only flip phones. Honestly id rather they keep the smart phones as my daughter currently has and uses and when she returns home she plans on having one as well

Midreshet Tehillah seems like a great option for a bright girl. Tomer Devorah also seems like the right hashkafa; not BY but borderline. I'm a proud alumn but the first to say it's defenitely not an academic place. There's space for a bright girl to find ways to intellectually challenge herself if she wnats it, but the school itself is not academic. For context, Midreshet Tehilah is a bit more left than Tomer Devorah, which is a bit more left than Darchei Bina. Midreshet Tehilah is also very OOT.
Sharfman's could also be a good option hashakfically. Not academic, but gets a different crowd than the other 3 schools.

I am also looking for a seminary for my middle of the road daughter. She attends an OOT BY but definitely doesn’t want a BY seminary and also doesn’t want too modern. She doesn’t want someplace too academic. Definitely doesn’t want to be taking tests. She wants to be in Yerushalayim. I think there’s at least one other girl in her class looking for the same type of place and both of them are trying to find the right places to apply.

She says Sharfmans is her first choice but I don’t know much about it. Can you explain more about it, what type of girl goes there? How is it different than Midreshet Tehilla and Tomer Devorah (both of which my daughter says she doesn’t want to go to)? She’s also looking at MidMo (Midreshet Moriah).
Trying to figure out where else she should apply?
