Does anyone have personal experience with this school? My daughter attends a school that has a high school but Im trying to see if this would be an option. She needs good academics but importantly nice girls who are not so brand/make up obsessed. She is not like that by nature and although she gets along well with the girls in her school, I don't like the changes I see in her personality. I want her to be inspired and happy. Would she get that in Bnos Yakov? TY

I went there for 9th grade and I was very unhappy and I switched to another school after that … and was super super happy 10-12
The academics were fine but the school was definitely more into project based learning . I did find the girls more interesting it was a lot of girls from bnos yisroel some top girls and some not so top. Definitely wasn’t such a yeshivish grade . I’ve heard BYA high school now is a very good school and not so yeshivish anymore the more yeshivish families are switching out to 18th ave and mesilos high school and drav Meir . The school was fine nothing amazing I think it tried to be the next manhattan high but they didn’t attract that crowd … but I heard Mrs ungar isn’t really involved anymore so I’m sure things are very different

I heard the social pressure in MHS is insane. Brand names, etc. and since they don't have a uniform it makes it 10x harder.

My daughter is in bnos yaakov now. The girls are very very into name brands. They wear their own sweater rosh chodesh and they wear a different expensive sweater every month. I've never bought designer sweaters but had to in order for her to fit in. Half her class has $600+ sneakers. (Some have multiple pairs). Teachers aren't great and they have the same ones every year. I would take her out but I can't find any better options.

The teachers and hanhala are great they really care about the girls. They are open and available to them and their parents.
The girls are very into brand names, with a casual look.
The grades are small so it can be hard to find your place among the girls, it's hit or miss, I guess that can be the case in all schools.

wow, thanks for the replies ladies. I didn't expect the brand name thing. the one or two families I know who went there are really not well off. my daughter is not the type to conform to brand names, if anything, she is going to do the opposite. I wonder this school compares to lev or prospect?
what about manhattan? does anyone know anything about it? thanks so much everyone

Bnos Yakov is amazing two of my dd's went there. They never had designer anything and they were fine. It's the type of school that is warm and caring and really cares about each and every girl there is tons of achdus.
I think in every school you have girls that have $ and girls that don't in bnos yaakov it's more about whats inside that matters.
