I have a robe and dress that have a musty smell, I typically hang dry them and it could be they didn't dry with enough ventilation once or twice. I've washed them multiple times since, but can't get out the musty smell..
Any ideas would be helpful?

I’ve heard adding white vinegar to your laundry helps get rid of it

Wash each one separately, on the longest cycle compatible with the garment, with 1/2 cup baking soda, and no detergent. Once done, check if smell is out. If it is, run it with just a drop of detergent on a quick cycle. Hang to dry right away.

Thanks! Would you do hot water or cold?
And I assume is should put the baking powder directly into the machine not in the top compartment?

Cold.
Baking soda directly in the drum, before you put in the garment.
Make sure it's baking soda, not baking powder.

I add vinegar to the load. Magically gets rid of the smell.

. Baking SODA not baking powder. They're not the same thing.

Put it in the washing machine pour vinegar over it..like a cup or 2. Let it sit for 15-30 min. Then run the load regularly with detergent. If stubborn it might take a few times of a wash with vinegar. But it really works.
