I know this was posted forever ago already, but I live in the community. Itās not a cult, to
Be a cult there has to be a leader. Most people here kinda do their own thing. The school has different grades now, when there was only a couple families it was one room multiple teacher style but now they have multiple teachers for each grade. A playgroup, a nursery. A cheder and also a mini yeshiva now. We are all anti vax and most ppl are anti common core (not everyone). We have a constant minyan (unless everyone goes in for same chossona then it becomes an issue). Most people here are pretty normal, obv thereās always a few extremists when places like this start. But they donāt go to school or Shul or anything. I would say to anyone calling it a cult, you have to visit before you say such a thing. Before we moved here I also had my notions, but bh itās a lovely place and a very nice community. We have visitors from all over New York all the time, people just checking it out for fun because they heard crazy things. And from what I know everyone leaves having a completely different idea on it than what they came in thinking

I believe the girls school goes until 10th grade I believe. I donāt have girls that age so Iām not positive. And the cheeses is all sorts of ages, we mostly have little boys but I do think thereās probably a boy every age. And the yeshivas oldest bochur I believe is 16. It didnāt start till a few months ago, a new family moved in and had multiple bucherim they wanted to Be home. A few families have boys that are living in New York going to yeshiva and they come home often for shabbos and every yom tov.
A lot of ppl here only eat their own fleish that they raise and have a shochet that they know come. But the people who do eat regular Satmar fleish get it sent from New York. There is also a kosher Kroger in cincinatti, so I know some people who drive there every so often and stock up on fleish or cheese etc. itās only an hr and a half drive. They do have a store here that a young couple has in their garage and they get food sent in by a truck, they have regular Nosh and yogurt regular milk, cheese lukshen oil etc (a lot of ppl here since they are Satmar they donāt eat ou, some people do but most donāt). So some people buy basic things like oil flour etc at Walmart itās only a 15min drive if that even. Oh and fish, a woman here buys in bulk and sells it, I think they buy whole fish Iām not exactly sure. My husband and I buy in cincinatti at the kosher Kroger. Also as far as milk, thereās a man who goes to the Amish farm every week and makes a big order, and watches the Amish milk the cows and bottle it. Best milk Iāve ever had itās so good.
The housing is pretty good, housing on sunset (the street the Shul is on, and most families live on this street), now has like 5 houses for sale by non jews moving out. You can see them on Zillow, if you look up Centerville Indiana. The area code is 47330. Sunset is more expensive just cause theyāre all newly built, they go for 200k and up. But houses outside of the area, like 15-30min walk to Shul go anywhere from like 85k-400k depending on what youāre looking for. Only one house from sunset is shown on Zillow. But if you came and were more interested we do have someone who helps w real estate and helps families trying to Move here. Anyways I think that was all your questions, feel free to ask more if youāre interested
Oh and the weather is basically same as New York, Iād say less warm in the summer, just cause without all the cars is feels cooler even tho itās technically the same temp. And winters are cold as New York but Iād say less snow generally

IDK about the extremists not attending cheder or school. I happen to be related to a bunch of founding families, and I met some other ones, and they are all nut jobs. They all attend the local school and yeshivah.
IDK if Iād call it a cult because as you say thereās no central leader. But from what I see itās def a magnet for extremists of all kinds. (NK, anti-vax, extreme crunchiness etc.) most are a combo of different extreme ideas as itās a personality I guess.

So I saw you when you walked in to
Shul ( I know all the families and their relatives here, so I knew right away you were a guest). but I didnāt introduce myself. I saw two women who are guests so Iām not sure which was you. Iām not the type to be able to walk up and introduce myself, Iām generally more on the shy side. But I know I saw you at some point on simchas Torah.
What do you mean ordering online?
Iām like 99% sure no other women from our community are on here. At least on here actively in the last few years
The families that are Satmar wear shpitzels, but there are a handful of families who arenāt Satmar. They still wear some type of tichel or hat though.
I was very apprehensive before we moved here last year, but my husbands family used to live here before moving back to New York. And they loved it a lot. But I had never been to visit or anything and I was super nervous when we first got here but right away all the woman befriended me. Thereās certain families I donāt really speak to just cause weāre very different or our personalities donāt mesh. But everyone Iām close to is very generous and kind. And now that we live here am very happy we made the choice. The hardest part is just what people back in New York have to say when we go to visit them, all this cult stuff and extremist etc, it gets very old to hear over and over from people who donāt know what the community is really like. Family gave us a really hard time, but bh all the ones whoāve visited took back what they said about it

I think thereās just one NK family here, but they arenāt actively in the community. they donāt send to school, donāt go to shul. Basically donāt have what to do with the community at all

Oh there is one other person I forgot of who is openly NK, they donāt have much to do with the community itself also though. Everyone here is anti Zionist, including my family. And I know people here who have been associated with NK but are no longer. Could be there are other people here who are but donāt openly say they are. I know people who donāt live here but are interested who donāt have any issue with NK but also arenāt actually affiliated. But we have family and friends who are very Zionist and have visited and stirred (fun) trouble in conversation and nobody cared. People here, whatever their affiliation are very open and kind about their beliefs (at least the ones I am friends with, canāt say about the ones I am not as I donāt have experience with them as much).
