Anyone find it strange the sentence was talking about newlywed by her parents house and her father walks in “ inspected yehudis from her shaitel down to her A soliani shoes nodding in approval of her appearance”
??? Like what on so many levels??

I gather the father is a little strange, going on this point and from the interactions with his wife.

I just laughed that they were mentioning the brand. But probably just a weirdly phrased sentence (bad writing). It's a good story idea so far!

Seems like the father is controlling, as he's also told her to give up her teaching job.
He also seems controlling towards his wife & always having to be right.

That's what this serial seems to be about, the father/husband's controlling persona. So seems part of that is having to approve of what everyone does and also how they look.

I got the impression the author was trying to do a "show me don't tell me" that the father is very into appearances and what looks good to other people.
Making her be a teacher in the first place so she attracts a certain type of shidduch, buying chargers in order to host their newlyweds, checking if his married daughter is still maintaining her ideal "look" every time she steps out of the house, etc.
Yeah a little messed up but aren't flawed characters what make a story?

To me, it was a statement about the father. And not a good one. Clearly, this is part of the general plot line. It’s obviously not meant to be something that’s ok. In general, the father is being painted as a controlling person, where everything needs to be exactly his way.

I was a little disappointed I thought it was going to be about her job. Which sounds fascinating.

Same! Was looking forward to the mom & baby home being the setting for the story. Original.

Same. I was in Seagate with 3 of my babies and I felt like I was living in a novel.

I'm so confused by this week. Who is Raizy? There's another married sister?? I don't remember her ever being mentioned in the story and yet they write about her as though she's a recurring character who's been mentioned five times before.
Also I cannot stand the father Amram.

To me it seems like Amram is controlling and abusive, by the way it hints to the fear his wife has of not listening or following his every whim. She obviously has major anger issues expressed towards her kids. My guess is that being so controlled by her husband she has a lot of suppressed rage that burst out when her kids trigger her. Her husband is oddly supportive of this weakness, bec it helps paint him in a better light as the better one and empowers him more. This week she was resentful that he always comes out as the better one when he offered to take kids on a trip. If he truly was a good husband and father she'd be happy he was taking them out, not have these conflicted feelings. I also think when she's in the 'heim' she can truly be her kind caring self that unfortunately disappears when she gets home. Not sure what Ita's issue is, she gets me nervous.
I could be totally off. Just a guess. If this is the case really sad and heartbreaking.

Raizy is the single sister. They may have mentioned her in the beginning. She's currently attending a local seminary. Mad that her father didn't let her go to Israel .

The single sister is Rikki. The Raizy mentioned this week is pregnant with her third kid. She has a sister named Leah who is married to someone very wealthy whose last name is Steiner. She goes to buy something for lunch and runs into her father who seems very disapproving that she spent money buying lunch. However his last name is Wetman not Koenig like the family in the story so I have no idea who in the world these characters are. I'm wondering if it's a misprint on the website and it will be different in the printed magazine. There is absolutely no mention of any of these characters in the previous four chapters.

One thing I did not understand,
why did the daughter that just got married go to the heim for Shobbos?
If she hates it that much why did she go? Making your own Shobbos sounds better then going. even if she is only married for two or three weeks.

I find this story very relatable. Amram is very much like so many middle aged men. Controlling and passive aggressive, yet the allegedly calm parent in the family. He runs the house like a dictator. Rikki can't go to seminary in Israel - no discussion. Yehudis needs to leave her teaching job. Not even up to her or her husband. Shaya needs to quit his art lessons - no room for argument. He's always "right" and he's a dictator. I'm surprised they didn't make him an accountant or actuary. Those professions would seem much more the type for someone so rigid and firm.

Is she pregnant already? Sounds like it that shes nauseous and couldnt stomach certain foods... and then craved tuna... YOu think the story will end dramatically when she goes to her mother kimpet heim and sees her kind side?
