My kid is gaining poorly since wic changed at 24 months to low fat milk from whole
There are solids in the diet too too but since the switch not gaining well , do I stand a chance to ask wic to switch us back to whole milk or unlikely to happen ?

Unlikely. You would need medical documentation that baby must have whole milk

Interesting. My nutritionist told me no way. Even though my kid it was barely on the weight chart. Should have tried this. I ended up just paying for the milk.

I highly doubt it. They’re very strict. When my son was losing weight because he was just drinking so many bottles and stopped eating, they told me step number 1 is to take away the bottles. At 2 years they want you focusing more on food. Eggs, yogurt cheese, bread, etc etc. many other food options to help your child gain weight. Personally for a couple of months after they stopped approving whole milk I still bought red for him just because he still wasn’t eating well. Bh I’ve been working with him, sitting next to him while he eats etc and he has since gained weight and is doing much better.

In Brooklyn they refused even with a doctor's note and diagnosis of FTT. They paid for Pediasure to add calories but refused to cover whole milk. shock Confused

Exactly! Can't Believe It

They have a lot of rules to follow. It's not personalized nutrition.

They're giving me all these low-fat products while my kids are FTT.

Look, you get what you pay for. When you take from the food pantry, you also don't get to choose

So rediculous. I just got onto wic and always bought whole milk. Now I'm downgrading.
I feel like I can easily ask a neighbor when she goes shopping for milk to get whole and I'll give her the lower fat milk.

My kid had a well visit and dr wanted to continue with whole milk so he also wrote a prescription and we sent along with the weight. Still need to convince kid to drink the milk so always end up having extras
