The school claims my daughter is socially off... + more issues. they sent me to a bcba for evaluations.
Yes, she officially found some issues on her. In order to continue working, I need to get my daughter covered through insurance.
question is, far as my knowledge, ABA is for autistic kids. If I sign that my daughter is autistic can it have any ramifications in the long run?

Consider going to a Psychologist or even an OT for an eval

Since when does a BCBA diagnose a child with autism? My daughter has been diagnosed by a developmental pediatrician, a neurologist, a psychiatrist, and a psychologist. The BCBA just creates the instruction plans for her.

I don't think a good needs to be autistic to get ABA. They just need to have certain deficits.

ABA can be helpful in many ways.
However, insurance will only cover if there is a diagnosis of autism.

she didnt diagnose. I always knew that ABA therapy is covered by insurance only if the child is autistic.
Was I wrong?

Why are you going to a BCBA for Social issues? Find a licensed therapist with experience working with children who have social issues and get her social skills training. Who sent you to a BCBA? Every socially off person isn't autistic. Some children just need more time, attention and skills to grow socially.

Its a shtick used by schools
One of my children needed extra help in chumash and kriah, the school offered/tried to convince me to get them the help through aba so the tutoring is free and they have someone there that works as a bcba..
But I didnt do that, I paid out of pocket, $$$.

You are correct. You can go to Hamaspik for an evaluation with a psychologist and see if child qualifies for autism diagnosis

BCBAs can be really helpful in teaching children social skills, social thinking, perspective taking, communication etc etc.
I've found them more helpful than LCSW's (in some cases, and of course, depending on the individual professional- as in all fields, there is a huge range from harmful to absolutely outstanding)
