This is for buying clothes for my kids b"h:

I don't need to buy more clothes for my kids.
They will look just fine and cute in whatever they have.
I don't need to buy things I think other people will find cute on them.
The clothes I bought are nice too.
My kids have enough clothes b"h, some they like more than others, and it's okay for them to learn how to handle that.
My kids are not asking me for more clothes.
I don't need to buy more. I don't need to buy more. I don't need to buy more.

Anyone have their own to add?

I don't need it, I don't need it, I don't need it. Rinse and repeat.

What if it does? What if I will feel happier because I got my kids another cute thing?

Maybe instead (for me, anyhow)-
I don't need this purchase to make me happier. I can do something else to bring me more happiness.

?

What feeling am I experiencing that shopping is alleviating?
Am I bored? Anxious?
Face the feeling!

I've got about 150 tichels and headscarfs (really). I don't need 151, 152, 153... I've got every color and pattern. A new shade of pink, black or blue will add nothing to my life, other than clutter.
I don't need more earrings or necklaces. I've got only 2 ears and one neck. I've got enough cheap fashion jewelry to wear something different every day for weeks.

Other people won't track the tiny differences in my outfits anyway. A week from now no one on planet Earth will remember if I was wearing the grey skirt with the little flowers or the one with the other pattern or the new one I'm tempted to buy just now because it's such a great bargain.

If you buy a new X, you have to throw out one of the old Ys to make room for it. (Throw away? Me? Never!!) - So, don't buy.

Write one hundred times "I'm a human, not a hamster".

Learn chinuch and mussar.
If you constantly buy clothes for your kids, what values do you convey? That mommy has a never ending stream of cash for everything?
Kids don't need to look like models in a magazine.
I suggest you get in touch with a wise Rebetzin or mentor that can give you perspective.

The feeling passes, right? So now you are on to the purchase, the next acquirement.
Once you acquired it your "happiness" is gone. That is not happiness. It's a high.

I like good shopping. I love a great bargain. But shopping and bargains aren't happiness. It's acquiring things. It's not the purpose of life.
