We all have ups and downs in parenting and that's fine. If you have wear with all. You can lat down rule everyone must eat the protein (obviously nothing to outlandish) before go out to Play Or have a special desert. Whatever your incentive is. You will have days of resistance but most give in after a few days.
Or
Just keep cooking well balanced meals and make sure they ask with respect for an alternative that works for you

For kids scared of meat or chicken I think it helps to cook their noodles in home made chicken broth. Like that they get the nutrients without actually biting into chicken pieces.
I hate the idea of forcing. I had a child with a delicate palette and made it into a non issue by having lots of choices around that she was open to without directly addressing it.

Feeling so guilty. My child eats very few foods and that's what I give. She's happy healthy and thriving b"h. I dont have the capacity to manage my various other life struggles even so I just let go of this. I literally can't win anywhere. I do subpar work in all areas. I feel guilty all the time.

I am laughing at some responses. "Just put it out and theyll eat it eventually" No.not how it works with these kids.
Dip the pasta into a drop of meat sauce, then add small chunks etc.. And soon he'll be eating meatballs... Also no. My son wont eat meatball just because its in small chunks. He hates tons of food.
And No its not a control/anxiety/ocd thing at least not with my son. He rely truly hates most food. He has agreed to try food (with bribes) and he would want to like it but he spits it out and says its really disgusting. He just realky dislkes the taste of it.
Its very very difficult. And even more annoying when people who dont get it give silly advice that works for other kids.

I agree this sounds like arfid op you should look into that. But I disagree with a few of your points here. There is a huge psychological component to Arfid (disclaimer I am a psychologist) it is not just a taste bud thing) moat people can eat things they dont like in order to live. Arfid they will refuse. there is also parenting piece etc. especially red flag when you have more than one kid like this. some of the suggestions here are actually pretty good but op I am encouraging you to get in touch with a professional so they look at the bigger picture. What you describe is beyond normal pickiness

I don't force my kids to eat anything. But I strongly encourage. And even if they won't eat it, it goes on their plate.
Also. I can believe there's one picky eater. If everyone hates the same things, it's just because that's what everyone else is doing. |
You can still train yourself to try new foods.
