Hi, all. As a full-time working mom of 2 gluten-free teenage girls, I’m always on the lookout for ideas on where my girls can go out to eat with friends or where I can buy takeout on busy evenings.

I will list the places I know of personally. Please add more information if you have it! Also, please clarify how careful the places are with cross-contamination as that’s very important. One of my kids has clearly diagnosed celiac, and the other is borderline.

Jus by Julie: they offer lots of GF options like waffles, pancakes, muffins, etc. They also claim their granola is GF. I believe they’re careful.

Very Juice (2 locations in Flatbush): they offer lots of salads and baked goods. As a health food place, I think they are careful.

Mendelssohn’s in BP sells GF pizza (can’t promise how careful they are with cross-contamination when baking) and have a line of ready-to-reheat pastas in a fridge in the back of their store. You can also request that plain French fries be fried in they basement fryer, which supposedly doesn’t cook anything else.

China Glatt in BP: many of their menu items can be made GF. The food is delicious, and I found them quite helpful, knowledgeable, and reliable. Not cheap, but a good takeout/eat-in option.

Sushi Meshuna: they offer almost all their menu items GF. The GF rolls cost extra for those that need to be prepared specially (think tempura).

Dagan Pizza in BP offers GF pizza but I have no idea how careful they are about cross-contamination.

Please post more ideas!

Hi, glad this was bumped! Since I started this thread, I became aware that most, if not all, Chickie’s locations have a small gluten free menus. They have a separate fryer for their fries, popcorn chicken, and hot poppers. My girls love that.

Thanks! Any idea how careful they are with cross-contamination? The buns can’t be toasted in the same toaster as regular buns, and the meat can’t be cooked on surfaces where they cook other things with sauces or marinades that may contain gluten.
