I have a new GE oven and am trying to understand the difference between all of the above options. Town Appliance recommended a magnet that goes over the plunger button. Supposedly even in Shabbos mode something still happens when the oven door is opened on Shabbos. If I have the magnet and intend to leave my oven on for the whole Shabbos or yom tov is there any reason to put it on Shabbos mode? Is the Shabbos keeper really needed for yom tov? I like the idea of being able to actually cook but over the years I have accumulated recipes that work in a 250 oven (slow cooked meats….). Can I attach the Shabbos keeper for yom tov then remove it and re hook it up for the next yom tov?

Does anyone have clarity on this?

I like using the Shabbos Keeper so that I have a 350 oven before the meals. I had to adjust my yom tov cooking mindset because of all the years I left my oven on 250 but especially with Shabbos connected to yom tov, an oven that really cooks is helpful. I disconnect my Shabbos keeper after yom tov and reconnect before yom tov begins.

In regards to the magnet, is it instead of shabbos mode or in addition? Can we just keep the magnet on at all times?

There are so many settings on the shabbos keeper. If I don't switch it to the options with no bake, does that mean it defaults to where it turns onto 350? Also does anyone know what time it's on 350 during the day?

I use it in addition and leave it on all the time.
Theoretically the oven temp is maintained better without it (when you open the door the heating starts) but I don’t notice
I think the reason for the magnet is opening the oven door on Shabbos was supposed to have a delay before it triggered the heating elements. After it was released the OU found the delay didn’t work how they thought so they removed their supervision and that is why you need the magnet in Shabbos mode. (Or something like that)
