Cst is not usually covered by insurance. You can post your location here and maybe someone can give a recommendation.
How are you sure that he doesn't have tongue tie?
The connection is that the if there's any amount of attachment under the tongue, it's pulling the tongue, which is connected to the neck. It's usually coming from tension even further down, like possibly even in the hips. That's why the best treatment involves aligning and strengthening the whole upper body.

That’s so interesting didn’t think about that connection. He was checked by a lactation consultant though, wouldn’t they have found tongue tie?

Located in 5t/fr if anyone has cst recommendations

I used an osteopath when my son was developing a flat spot on one side. Worked really quickly, by the end of the day he was using his weaker side more. Wasn't an official torticollis diagnosis though

My son had it. I turned his head slightly every diaper change starting at 4 weeks and within 2 weeks it loosened and he could move his head freely. He turned over at 8 weeks and crawled at 8 months. But he still has weak tongue muscles with speech therapy.

Hard to say for sure that a lc would catch it. I took my dd2 to a lc a few times and also had her checked by doctor. I kept going to the doctor with all my concerns, she was ftt, low tone, torticollis, terrible reflux, feeding issues, always congested. Even with every symptom of tongue tie, no one mentioned it.

By my next kid, I went to a different lc who pointed it out right away. I followed all her recommendations and bh ds3 is 6yr old and doing great. Looking back, I realize that dd2 is for sure tongue tied too and that's why she had so many issues.

I know somewhere in Long Island is a cst by the name of Lori Chinitz. She's supposed to be very good, especially with mouth related stuff. 5164964800.
In Brooklyn, shira korngold.

If you want a chiropractor, Dr. Harbater may be more in your area but I don't know much about him.

My oldest daughter had it and we got her evaluated at 4 months old. She had OT/PT and it definitely affected her in many ways. Don't ignore it. She had feeding issues that were caused by it too... Please get him the help as early as possible it makes a huge difference

You can have him evaluated through any EI agency and see if he's eligible for PT. In NY, severe torticollis is enough to get services, especially with a doctors recommendation. If he's eligible, you can get a PT provider to come to your home to do a 30 minute session, once or twice a week. Even if he's not eligible, the evaluator can give you some exercises to do on your own.

So interesting bec he has a lot of those issues but clearly not some of them. He has really bad reflux, difficulty with breastfeeding (keeps unlatching, crying while feeding etc), constant congestion, and he snores when he sleeps. But he bh has great muscle tone and is gaining weight at a really nice pace.

So now I’m confused…?

Thank you for the recommendations, I’ll look into them!

Dr. Scott Siegel has an office in your area. Maybe call him and ask him for a recommendation for a lactation consultant that he works with. They'll know how to identify ties. 6314650300

The feeding issues and breathing issues point very much in the direction of a tongue tie. In NY, Dina Ezagui is excellent for evaluating tongue ties and Dr. Scott Siegel is the best for having them revised.

My son had very mild torticollis due to being sideways breech during pregnancy and we self-referred to EI at 4 months. Pediatrician felt it was unnecessary, but it was immensely helpful and I would say you could see lingering evidence of mild weakness on the twisted side up until he started to crawl at 9-10 months. I am so grateful we got EI help because we wouldn't have known what to do on our own (my craniosacral person showed me how to massage his neck gently while nursing to relieve the tension, but there was so much more to it than that).

It also made nursing excruciating and difficult until his tension released more fully and then suddenly it wasn't an issue anymore, but for the longest time, we could only do sideways nursing lying down.

I had 2 kids with it and while I did the exercises I was told that it could self-correct once they start crawling and 6+ years later I can say it wasn't a long term issue.

My baby had it and ended up in a helmet. Ultimately PT fixed the issue
