Is this fever? What to do?

My 1 y.o. feels hot to the touch on and off since last night but is more or less acting and eating normally. It's like a dry heat, not clammy, if that makes sense. I took her temp and the side of her forehead show 100 but the middle is normal.

Is this fever? If so, should I give Motrin? No other symptoms.

Maybe a low grade fever. You don't need to do anything. Fever is healthy for the body and the best way to deal with it is through. You should keep giving liquids to keep your child hydrated, other than that let her rest and sleep as much as she needs.

Sounds like a fever but a mild one.

The most important thing with a low grade fever is that the sick person can eat, drink, sleep.

If any of those aren’t going well, I’d give Motrin or Tylenol.

My kids and I are very sensitive to fevers and feel awful with even mild fevers to the point we can’t even rest. So even though it can be good to let the fever be, the benefits are outweighed by being too miserable to rest or eat/drink for us. Depends how the person with the fever is handling it.

Some ppl only show their internal fever temperature on random spots of their body.

I have one child that only gets had on her Temple no matter how high the fever is. I have one that gets hot on the back of their head and Stomach.

This is why I take orally as soon as I can, or rectal. And I've told the doctor the same because I still remember when I brought a baby to the doctor and they did a forehead swipe and it said 98.6 or thereabouts and I said, no she definitely has fever. On my insistence we did a rectal and it was 103!

So if one side of the head says 100 it is fever.

It's possible it's a virus etc.
Personally unless the child feels very uncomfortable I do not give motrin or Tylenol.

Eta: since your a ftm, here are my rules about fever according to my doctor: under 3 months you call for a fever ASAP. (However under 3 months it is normal for a body temperature to be up to 100.4) Once they're over 3 months, unless they have other symptoms that make you think that they might have something more serious that requires antibiotics, you do not need to bring a child to the doctor unless they have just a fever for more than 3 days.

Not a specific type you put Vaseline on the thermometer and in babys rectum and you make sure not to stick it in too deep.
I personally use the dr Braun ear thermometer I find that super accurate

Check your pharmacy if they have a rubbery flexible head
My kid hardly feel it and it's extremely fast and accurate
