I really love beige/taupe but I can't find for a good price.
Would you get cream with little kids?

Unless it’s performance leather which will repell stains and from which you can easily remove crayon, ink, dirt, spilled beverages, and honest wear and tear, I wouldn’t do it. I recovered my couch three times in the years when my kids were young. All of those times were with darker textiles. It’s just not practical unless you want to make it a kid free zone and can reasonably enforce that. My mother had white couches with beautiful textured fabric. However, in my day, we weren’t allowed to sit on the living room couches (and my Grandmother’s couches were covered with a plastic shmattie!) I don’t know anyone who does that today or keeps the kids out of the living room.

I have a beige couch in faux leather that can be wiped down clean, but the longevity is bad. Faux leather cannot handle so much wiping

Genuine leather couch? Cream colored?
Cream colored and little kids don't belong in the same sentence.
Get a couch from IKEA which is child friendly and covers can be washed.

They look greyish really fast. They don’t keep the vibrant color.

Are you insane? Not even if I had a full-time employee assigned solely to maintaining such an item. I can't imagine what sort of warped brain even conceived of such a travesty as a white couch. At least not one that was intended to be actually used. One for display only, inside a glass box on a dais behind thick velvet ropes? Maybe not even then.

If you get real leather (not bonded which can be called “genuine!”) then the only issue would be pen or marker. It should stay in excellent condition for years, even with kids climbing and jumping and eating and drinking.

My experience with vinyl is that it tends to flake and doesn't last very long.
