My baby is about a year old. She has been literally tossing and turning for an hour. She's exhausted and wants to sleep but can't get comfortable. She keeps trying and then a minute later kvetches and tries a different position.
She doesn't want to eat, we nursed like ten times, I don't think she's constipated, doesn't seem sick. I tried music and touch, not helping.
She did go to sleep nicely at 8:30, woke up at 9:30, went briefly back to sleep till 11, and now it's past 12.
What can I do for her?

Gassy? Hold her upright or maybe lay her across your lap so her back is arched.

You think pinworms? It's just one night. She's never like this. Either sleeps or wants to play till all hours.

Give a gentle pull on her ears. Might be an ear infection.

Maybe she’s teething or an ear infection. Maybe try giving her Tylenol

I think she has a cold... Her breathing does sound a bit congested and I have a slight cold.

What would I be looking for in her response?

If she has a cold, even more likely it's an ear infection.
Poor baby.
If she still can't sleep later, I would give Motrin or Tylenol for pain until I could see the doctor in the morning.

Her mouth is open and shes definitely congested. But she wouldn't sleep upright in her Doona either (I know it's not meant for sleep but my pediatrician says it's okay if they're struggling when not upright cause they're sick).
Thanks everyone. Hoping she sleeps the rest of the night, please! Otherwise I'll be back, |
Try lifting her mattress at the head. Put a rolled towel underneath the head of the mattress.

Glad she’s sleeping. In such a case I’d give Tylenol or Motrin.
Refuah shelaima!

Massage her tummy
Give her a painkiller
Maybe a warm bottle for her tummy.
My kids sometimes get it when the dinner was really heavy or greasy

When we have this I give gas drops and Tylenol and figure one of them would solve the problem. It’s not an every night solution, but sleep is important too
