If there is no day camp, you dont want sleepaway the girls who stay home try to find jobs.

Mine is going for half and working as a preschool assistant in day camp the other half. Many camps had junior staff positions. I also know a bunch that are working as assistants in backyard camps.

I would have loved for dd to go to sleepaway. She didn't get in, like many others.
she is working in a daycamp one half.
The question is what she could do the other half that would be fun, since she's not going to camp.

I have a friend who does a camp 1st half for girls finishing 6th and 7th. If you can get a group of girls together you can make something fun for them. The girls love her program and it gives them a month of structure since sleepaway is typically only half a summer here.

are you in lakewood? there are a number of teen camps. the girls have an absolute blast! they do loads and loads of fun stuff. and I am sorry abt her not getting in. that is so upsetting.

My daughter didn't get in and worked in a backyard type camp and teen night camp. She made some money and had a blast.

Not in Lakewood.
Teen night camp would be 2 nights a week.
Is that what it is in Lakewood?

UPDATE:
I want to thank everyone for responding to this thread from June. (I can't believe I was still working on this that late in the year last year!!!)
Thanks to you ladies, I thought out of the box, and ended up doing a hybrid of suggestions that came up in this thread!
Dd is still disappointed that she didn't go to sleep away camp, but she had a few weeks of Amazingfun last summer!!!
