I live in NY and want Fidelis NJ since I'd like to use an ob in NJ. Can I just use a relatives address in NJ and claim I live there? How can I get onto NJ coverage?

That's called insurance fraud. You can get jail time if you're caught.

Plus you would have no coverage at all for any new York doctors.

How would they find out?

They can find out because you do live in New York. And you're using other services in New York. You probably won't get awarded it. But if you do, you can easily get caught.

Even if you had a second home (which it doesn’t sound like you do) you have only one primary residence

Don’t take our word for it. Ask your Rav and report back here to let us know his opinion

If they find out you can end up in jail or best case scenario you’d owe them tons of money.

You can only have one address as a primary residence.

You would need to change your license, vote in NJ, and a host of other things.

They absolutely can find out- it’s happened before to frum people.

Try gettinv on to straight medicaid instead of Fidelis. They cover care in surrounding areas regardless if NY or NJ.

Not so simple.
A) unless you have a waiver, you generally need to have a managed care plan.
B) not all (out of state) hospitals will accept NY Medicaid. Some do, and for that it is generally easier to work with straight Medicaid, but again, they don’t all.

The majority of doctors don't accept straight Medicaid
Not likely that the ob that op wants to use takes it

I think they can cover bills you receive as personal bills, fwd to Medicaid and they will pick up the tab.
Valley Hospital accepts it.

No need for waiver. You can be on straight Medicaid

That's not true that doctors don't take it, but unless you have an exemption (like a Waiver), you are required to have an HMO.

Unfortunately if you are on Medicaid or the like, you can only be covered for emergencies in other states. The Medicaid funding goes by state. That's just reality.

Afaik the only way to be on straight Medicaid is if you either have a primary private insurance or have a waiver.
