Any weird food combos your family eats? Here’s the place to share….
Here’s mine: in our family goulash and potato stew was mashed, and combined with diced gherkins! Yum!
We also toasted peanut butter and American cheese breads, but I never went for that! My siblings still drool!

My mom always threw diced pickles into her mashed potatoes, we loved it! I still eat it like that sometimes.

I grew up on buckwheat kasha, butter and pickles. Gotta get a bit everything on each spoon.

We used to spread mayo on challah. Probably some other do as well but I thought it was the most normal thing ever until I never saw it anywhere else.

We went one better - butter and mayo on challah! (May as well pour cholesterol directly into a vein...)

breakfast- raw quaker oats and raisins with cold milk. hated it as porridge.
I havent had it in yrs, but dd6 saw oats and thought it was granola and wanted it cold with milk, I tried explaining her its not the same but she still wanted so I gave it her to try, she loves it but without raisins. DH tried getting her to have it as porridge or at least warm but she wasnt a fan. she has it occasionally now. I suppose the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
im sure there is more just cant think now.

We make omelets with corn flakes in it. (Kind of like matzah-brey but corn flakes instead of matzah.) I thought it was a very regular food until I got married and dh found it weird and foreign. To take it a step further, we sometimes have pizza eggs: a corn flakes egg base, with ketchup and cheese melted on top. Yum.

I still don't think it's weird but raw oats (till today won't eat cooked oats or with water) with honey. Sometimes we had raw oats with raisins and cinnamon.
Both yum!

Motzei Shabbat we would have grilled cheese pita sandwiches with slices of watermelon. But I see receipes now that use watermelon & feta cheese in salad, so I guess it has become mainstream meditereann cooking.
