As an objective bystander if someone ever told me "Simi told me XYZ" I'd 100% assume they're referring to a girl/woman.

As a member of a family with a number of Simas and Simis- most of the nicknames listed here (besides Simchi) are names I would and actually do call my daughter, nieces, and granddaughter. I can’t really fathom calling a boy any of them.
