How to keep it freshest if making it today?
Was thinking to maybe freeze it and then put it in oven on low temp Friday afternoon until the meal Friday night to kind of “overnight it”
Or should I not bother freezing it? Just keep in fridge? Any better ideas?

They say if you freeze a kugel, you should not defrost it - go from freezer to oven to reheat.
What I find also works well is, I take the kugel out of the freezer, I pour about 1/2 cup water over it, cover, and put in low oven early on so it bakes for a few hours before Shabbos. This is overnight, kiddush-style kugel.

Don’t refrigerate potato kugel.
Freeze and put directly from freezer in oven Friday afternoon. Put it in covered. Pour a little water on top and cover tightly with foil. You can uncover after it defrosts, how long that takes depends on temperature of your oven. If you want a crispy top put just a drop of water on top and later after you uncover smear a tablespoon or two of oil on top. If you want an overnight style kugel don’t uncover and keep in oven a long time.

I think it's fine. I've often made it on Wednesday and it was delicious Shabbos. You can put it on top of the crockpot or on the blech on an inverted pan, though I assume your oven's on.

Its fine to put in the fridge until Friday. You can warm it up before the zman

Good, I'm not the only one.
If I make kugel earlier than Wed. I freeze it.

It’s always best to freeze if you’re more than a day ahead. The texture gets ruined in the fridge. Cakes too are good to freeze but the temperature of the fridge ruins them.
