Where did you see I posted one time will trigger a ban?

The ban is based on a pattern of returns and is calculated by a computer that will automatically ban based on the formula being used by the retailer.

I would imagine that OP triggered the ban when her pattern of purchasing and keeping "very little" reached a certain point.

It is all done by computers and is fairly common.

It happens typically for on-line purchases at places like Amazon where people purchase frequently over a period of time. Or here Zara where OP seems to have a history of purchasing.

It isn't going to happen in most situations because most people don't order frequently from most specific on-line retailers so there wouldn't be a pattern for them. I purchase a lot on-line but my repeat purchases are with amazon and from other stores it is either one time or very infrequently in a year.

It makes more sense that the ban is for returning without the care needed for the items- like folding without creases, packing it the way they had sent it to you nicely. Simply returning does not trigger ban but returning items that are hard to sell or need to be steamed wastes money and manpower. They lose money.

They sent me back a shirt claiming I wore it. Not sure why. I called then and tried to fight it and they agreed to me sending it back for a refund. I wonder if that triggered it.

Fyi those who say they keep returning to amazon did you know that most companies are small companies and they end up paying both your delivery and return shipping fee?

That's not the consumer's problem. The only reason most people shop on Amazon and pay the prime fee is so they can shop without paying shipping and return fees. I don't buy anything that doesn't have free returns. Vendors who are selling on Amazon have to work this into their cheshbon. No one is buying and returning random stuff because they want to hurt vendors. It's the business model of convenience and waste. But that's not the consumer's problem.

Maybe the people you know do this but statistically the majority of people who shop on amazon don't do it because they don't return a large percentage of their purchases.

I shop quite a bit on amazon and haven't returned anything in several years.

Amazon knows how to run a business and they have no interest in losing money on people who are returning items - whether for free or even otherwise - in an amount that triggers their algorithm and makes them unprofitable and undesirable.

No one is forcing anyone to shop at amazon especially for the kinds of items that might have to be returned.

Amazon factors in returns very much. They have warnings on products with a high return rate, they have try before you buy programs, and list every product that has free returns.

After having a nightmare at Macy's with a sneaky return policy, I always check to confirm if it's free returns. I keep about 85% of what I buy but the 15% I return is a huge factor for me and I wouldn't buy there if I couldn't return.

Well then you are using it in the manner that amazon has funneled you towards so no issue.

Banning people is just amazon factoring in returns but just in a different way.

Also pricing probably reflects the return policies for different items.

I limit shopping on amazon to specific types of products for various reasons. Some types of products are counterfeited a lot. Some types of items like electronics have a lot of fraud by sellers and so no reason not to purchase from Apple or Best Buy and not risk it.

I limit purchases items that don't need to be returned since returning to amazon is just as difficult as returning to a store for the most part. Plus the benefit of returning to a store is that often I can easily exchange it for something that works - not to mention that I rarely need to return items I buy in person anyway since clothing can be tried on and I get to actually see what items are like in person.
