crying to nurse at least a couple of times every night? Some nights just once but very very very rarely do we go a whole night without waking up crying.

He's happy during the day, eating well, and growing normally.

I for one feel very very ready to start sleeping through the night for real.

It's still normal. Mine does too. You can teach your kids to go back to sleep without nursing if you want, but it's still very normal at this age.

Because that's what she's used to. It's completely developmentally appropriate.

Around a year old is when I would sleep train my babies, at that point I couldn’t handle the not sleeping anymore. For me starting to wean and stop nursing was ultimately what got my babies to sleep. Even my Dr recommended it, said it would be much easier to stop nursing at a year then at 2 years.

Because it's comforting to nurse. It's normal, but it's also ok to do gentle sleep training if you want. I have my dh go when they cry at night, to make sure nothing is really wrong and to comfort them. Since he can't nurse they stop waking up within a couple of weeks.

My 15 month old does. Literally I haven’t gotten a full nights sleep even one night in over a year.
