Hi,
My son is 8 years old. He's smart, not so social, intense. He likes to read, listen to stories etc. He likes to have his own space. If someone bothers him it's out of control. He will hurt the child get very angry and have a hard time calming down. He has good days and harder days. Sometimes he's in a really good mood but a minute later he could be so angry and frustrated. Me and my husband feel like he needs help. The question is what type of help? Is it something that can go away on it's own and we need parenting classes on how to do with it or he needs something more? I hope I'm being clear..

What help is available for this? I actually have another son that is on the spectrum for autisim so he gets a full time therapist and OT and speech. That was much clearer to me to figure how to take care of it. But what do you do for this?

Get an assessment so you know what you are dealing with.

Is it possible that he may have a lesser degree of ASD? It can be genetic
The diagnosis would help get him the help he needs.

yes it could be on a much lesser degree. Just wondering how that works. Does anyone have experience with this? Like he gets some therapy in school/home?

What state do you live in? How did you get you other sons diagnosis? You can start the same route for evaluation and see what they recommend. Depending on where you live and if you get a diagnosis, that will probably make a difference if you get funding etc.

Call board of Ed or find out who is in charge in your ds school and say that you have some concerns you would like him to be evaluated.
Then you'll see...
