If they dig it up, they pave it back. Why would you think otherwise? You are paying it with your taxes, not paying for it directly.

When they finished working they filled it with a temporary fill - black and then a few months later they came to pave it. They don't bill you.

Where I live sidewalks are the city's property and responsibility not mine. Is it not like that everywhere?
Also I would assume they would pay for it if they are the ones who dug it up.

They will do it. But very much on their own schedule. If you have a specific reason they should expedite it (we had a school around the corner), you should let them know. It might seem obvious but often it's not written down.

Its complicated. They sent me a letter years ago saying we had a violation and I need to fix the sidewalk. We got a contractor to do a repair, he didnt redo it completely, but it was smooth and decent. We contacted the city to say we repaired it. When yu look at the violation number online it says"Resolved"???!!!!????.

Now they dug it up and the person we called to ask whats going on, said there was a violation (there was and we fixed it). Now its all dug up.
