As it rises the braids are falling apart - anyone know why? or what I can do about it?

Are you pulling it tightly enough? Are you tucking under both ends when don’t breading? Maybe you’re letting it rise too long.

it opens in the middle of the challah not the ends
maybe it's rising too long, it's quite hot in my kitchen
but it's less than 1/2 an hour after I braid....
