I found sugar in my cabinet dated October 2023. I think we sold it for Pesach 1 1/2 years ago and forgot about it. It looks fine, though a bit clumped. It's almost full. Should I throw it out?
I feel like sugar did not have a date back when I was growing up. It doesn't spoil. What could be bad about it?

If it was bug-free? Totally.

Hope I’m not derailing but what about almost flour expired six months ago? Anyone know if it’s safe?

Flour can get moldy and it wouldn't necessarily be visible. It could also go rancid, although you would probably smell that. Flour, cake mixes, and other flour based products I toss after the expiration.

Interesting. It can go bad and make you sick even if it looks and smells fine?
Btw for the sugar- I’d use it for sure.
