I would like someone more local that I can actually take my child to the office, rather than virtual. Thanks!

I looked at this place but didn’t know anyone who used them. Do you have experience with them?

Is he just for autism? I need more for gut health related issues, not on the spectrum.

Good luck! Keep in mind that functional medicine is a tool, not a silver bullet.
And if it's for gut issues, be prepared for massive diet changes.

Yes I know 😭😭 that’s why I haven’t done it until now but conventional medicine hasn’t been able to help for years.

Another point to consider is that if you're ready to make the diet changes, you really don't need a fmd to tell you that based on $$$ testing you need to take your kid off gluten and dairy. You can just do it yourself...

Is that really all they say? I would like someone who can test for environmental factors, not just diet.

I don’t know if forsure gut issues, the main issue is Tourette’s which is affected by environment and I don’t know where to start changes. There is also smaller issues that keep cropping up which is why I suspect his gut is doing very poorly. He spent years on antibiotics when we treated for pandas so that probably hurt his gut too.

What do you mean by environmental factors?

They will probably also recommend some supplements based on testing. Diet and supplements are the cornerstones of functional medicine treatment.

But my point was more that if you're hesitant about shelling out money without being sure about results and you haven't done any kind of gut work yet, there is plenty you can do on your own and see if you get anywhere.

ETA I just read the post above this one. Aaah I don't know if testing exists for environmental triggers for tics. And if this child is struggling with tics and has a history of pandas and I didn't want to do more antibiotics I'd be looking for a pandas specialist who treats with herbs. Or I would look into homeopathy.

This.
Have you looked into Sarah Chana Radcliffe's book No More Tics? It helped us with 2 kids. But this was after we already eliminated dairy and gluten and try to minimize sugar.

Agree and just to clarify, gut work is absolutely foundational to pandas and tics treatment but it's generally not enough. You need to go after the infections and inflammation as well.

Maybe dr nancy ohara would be a better choice for you OP. She has a book out on functional medicine for pandas and pans so you can get a feel for her approach.
