Was reading all the typical foods that people are suggesting for meals.
This is how I grew up
Breakfast: Cereal & milk
Lunch: Tuna Sandwich
Snack: Chips or pretzels or cookies
Supper:
-fish sticks & corn
-pasta & cheese
-hot dogs or deli sandwiches & French fries
- pizza & knishes
- etc usually something from the freezer or can, once in a while something like meatloaf or chicken homemade.
We weren't hungry. But is this considered functional?

Yes.
Why not?
You were served 3 meals plus snacks.

Yes it’s functional. Not having gourmet 5 course fancy meals doesn’t equal dysfunction.

I think it's functional. Only thing is that supper was mostly freezer instead of fresh homemade stuff (chicken, rice, meatballs, etc) but overall everything sounds normal. There is also more focus on health and balanced diet, etc now then back then (and I'm pretty young).

Very functional. Assuming you didn't have to rummage for it, or clean a plate before you ate.

Yes could the meals be more nutritious maybe but your mom fed you and fed you well so that’s functional

That’s not what functional means. She didn’t ask if you think it’s the healthiest. It’s definitely functional and it’s not deprived or neglected.

Yes. This sounds very typical. With some veggies I assume. Carrot sticks or frozen peas or cut up peppers type, easy.

Did it feel functional to you? Did you feel like you were lacking? Were you picky eaters? Was your mother very busy? I think it depends on the bigger picture.

I know so many families whose suppers look like yours, way more than seems to be represented in the other thread. We have allergies so I can’t do a lot of frozen foods but I was baffled by the elaborate meals people seem to prepare regularly especially the breakfasts.

Just wondering is it very typical on a consistent bases? And in what circles?
We grew up with hot fresh dinners. Meatballs and spaghetti, chicken and rice. Etc. Soup salad and cut up fruit on most days. (Poor middle class. )

I know many working busy families who are not eating processed foods nightly or consistently.
I'm really curious if this is specific to certain communities?

Who are your circles that can so perfectly manage to work full time and cook fresh suppers nightly and also stay sane? I'm not in a specific community, JPF. Sorry can't help you stereotype.

No ill feelings meant.
I was really curious if this is location dependent . No I'm not trying to stereotype but I know of very few (working ) moms who serve processed foods on a consistent often bases.
Sorry for any hard feelings. None meant

Does it really matter if imas think you grew up functional or not? You know the answer. And food is just one element in a big picture. You could have gourmet meals and still have an extremely dysfunctional childhood..
