My husband and I are trying to rework our budget.
We have one toddler, and don’t really have anyone to get hand me downs from but I don’t buy expensive clothes. All her things are from target and old navy with a few shabbos things I get from kidichic on sale. I still feel like I’m spending so much on her clothes!
Curious if anyone could share their toddlers clothing budget monthly/quarterly.
Trying to figure out what’s normal and how I can cut back.
Thanks!

I don't have an exact budget, buy I don't shop at local stores. I don't spend alot on clothing & shop mostly at department stores like h&m, gap, old navy. I try to get to primark before every season, they're so cheap & great quality.

I found that I got better at it with time. I spent a lot more with my oldest and he didn't even have that many things, I just wasn't good at shopping sales, anticipating sizes etc. Now I spend much less. I just made a huge shein order, will return whatever doesn't work but it's like $3-10 per item including dresses so definitely worth the time

No. They are 3 and down. So they don’t have shabbos shoes.
3 year old I got shabbos shoes for his upshernish.
$145 total for 3 pairs of school shoes.
$16 shabbos shoes (1 kid)
$178 in kidichic for yomtov clothes. (3 kids)
Wow!!! $585 total.
For
winter clothes
shabbos clothes
Shabbos shoes (1)
School shoes (3)
Oh right and an upshernish outfit was $108 including shipping charges.
Kidichic also includes shipping charges.
Plus another item they forgot to send which is $38 including shipping.
$738 total. 😭😭😭😭
It’s so hard when we can’t afford basics.
But the good thing is I sell one if every item from my twins so I do sometimes make some money back.
Also they are my first and different genders so can’t do hand me downs.
But I do save them for the future iyh when I’ll spend less.

I’m so grateful this thread it made me realize how much kids clothes are especially in the frum world.
My mother did buy some winter clothes for my girls so that’s a huge help.
You think
“Oh it’s $5,$8!! So cheap” but it adds up

These are my winter costs for a 3 yo boy. Also don't have anyone to get hand me downs from.
I get mostly Target and H and M and try to purchase when I can get 25% off (so totals show those costs for instance the jeggings are $12 each when full price). I get enough so I can do laundry once a week and have a few extras. (Some of these amounts are approximate of what it will cost... didn't buy it all yet)
8 pairs jeggings Target 72
8 sweatshirts/ sweaters H and M 64
8 pairs pajamas Target 48
Socks Target 10
Shabbos pajamas Amazon 16
2 Shabbos outfits Kidichic 98
Coat H and M 24
Hoodie Target 8
Shoes Jewish store 70
Total 410
Hope this is helpful. It really all adds up so quickly. I've tried to purchase end of season for Shabbos in the past and got sizing wrong which ends up being a bigger waste of money.

Clothes cost money. Period. But I can get away with not spending over $300 a season.
Some tips.
Buy cotton clothes-they wear nice u will enjoy them longer (and pass down)
Size up-it will fit 2 seasons. (Especially fitted pajamas and sweatshirts.
Buy stuff that are good for all year round. (Limit velour or very dark colors)
Shop around in non Jewish stores on sale.
Buy one pair of good quality shoes that can be good for shabbos and weekday (for toddler)
7 weekday and 3 shabbos is more than enough. And if you have some stuff put away from the previous year you will hardly have to buy anything.

I get lots of stuff second hand for free. I also basically shop everything the year before at clearence. My 2yr old has all her summer weekday outfits for next year basically. She has everything she needs for winter minus one or two outfits.

She's already 2, and she's been following regular sizes. Don't most kids have a pattern? Sometimes I'm a little off but it usually works out.
She's currently wearing 2t and she turns 3 in the spring. I got her 3t summer stuff.

What if she doesn't grow so much over the winter and still needs 2t in the summer...
They stop growing so fast
