Know how to say no.
Encourage independence & let them figure things out before running to help them.

Are you a loving, warm, giving person who can deal with stuff?
I don't see why the two are contradictory. You can give as much as you want as long as you also teach your kids how to deal with things.
Sometimes the best form of giving is taking a step back.
It's too vague a question for a better answer than that.

Encourage the kids to figure things out on their own but make it clear you’re there if they really need you

Be empathetic, loving, encouraging, validating and helpful but don’t solve every problem for them

Be the parent, don't engage in petty back and forth with a kid. Validate, encourage be firm but calm and loving.
Example 10yr old girl
Can I go with neighbors shopping?
I see you really wanna go, no shefela, it's not right for u to go along
Why not? Not fair! I wanna go!
I know you do,
No zeeskeit
Mammy said no
Calm
cool
no argument
no fighting
no yelling
She can beg cry scream bang doors,
but
she will feel;
Loved because u were validating.
safe because u put up boundaries. Resilient because u were calm about it. Strong because she will be ok after that.
